Children and Families

Tumba Paper Mill Museum is a delightful destination for children. Admission is free for both adults and children. As a parent or other accompanying adult, you will probably have many questions before your visit. We will do our best to answer them here.

School holidays

The museum's exhibitions and restaurant are open Thursday to Sunday. Free admission for children until 19 years of age!

Child-friendly exhibitions

Swedish banknote paper has been produced in the Tumba Paper Mill since 1755. At the museum, you can learn about Sweden's banknote history, and about the people who lived and worked at Tumba Paper Mill. The museum has lots of exciting things for children and families to discover, both indoors and outdoors.

Our exhibitions are easy to visit with children – there's plenty to see at just the right height for them. For example, you can visit the old school room or peek inside the old fire station.

Climb aboard the fire engine

A popular family activity is to climb aboard the fire engine in the Spruthuset firehouse. Spruthuset was built in 1926 to serve as the mill's fire station. It houses fire engines, helmets and other equipment.

Audio guides

If you want to discover the mill area on your own, we recommend the free app “Upptäck historien”, where you can find facts about the history of the mill and a fun quiz for those with older children.

The museum also has a free audio guide, with which you can you can dive deeper into our exhibitions. These are available in English and Swedish.

Visit the restaurant and café

Grab a seat at "Brukscaféet" for lunch or some tasty treats! We have outdoor seating (weather permitting), or you can even buy take away. There are a number of highchairs available, and we are happy to help you heat up some baby food. The café also offers squeeze bags. If you have small children, rest assured that we have changing tables and a potty seat in our guest toilets.

Book a children's party

The Tumba Paper Mill Museum offers a unique and cosy environment for children's parties. Celebrate your child's birthday with paper crafts and tasty party refreshments. Recommended for ages 6 and up, but our experience has shown that the craft party is best suited for children aged 8–11.

Visiting the museum with a pram

Stroll around with your pram in the quiet and beautiful mill area, where you can also have a picnic. Most of the museum is accessible for strollers, but some exhibitions are not.

Courses for children and youth

During the summer, we offer a course in art and design for children aged 10–15 who live in Botkyrka Municipality. The course is organised with the support of Botkyrkabyggen and Botkyrka Municipality. Our summer courses (in Swedish) will be announced in the spring.
